Gold in the Darkness

Hey ya'll!

Thank you for stopping by! I thought since Gold in the Darkness has a release date now, I would hop on and give a bit of insight into it. I have wanted to write for so long. So long! My husband got me a laptop and essentially told me to stop talking about it and do it. I had no idea where to start. I searched around about where to get an idea to write. I decided I would just clash two worlds together that I loved. I love Scotland, it is beautiful, and I love all books, stories, and shows that are rich in the Scottish culture. I also love a good Fae story, I mean who doesn't right? Scottish folklore is steeped in celtic fairy lore, and I started researching and from there my story took off. My characters came to life right under my finger tips. Most of the time, I didn't even feel like I was conciously thinking, I was just tapping away at my keyboard.

In the end, not only one novel was born, but a series! I love writing, and it has become my passion, and now my career. I write 10-12 hours a day…sometimes more. I have come to love these characters so much, and it has literally been the hardest thing to keep it under wraps. I am a reader, and one thing we do inside the reading community is tell EVERYONE we can that we just read an amazing book, right? But here I was with this amazing plot and epic characters in front of me and no one to shout it to. I made a close friend out of publishing this novel, and it has been great to have her as a confidant and beta reader, and someone to spill plot lines to, or I would have burst. So, if you are here as an aspiring author, my one tip is to surround yourself with likeminded people, especially for your first book, you will need them. You need someone to blab to that you can trust.

I decided to self-publish this book, and let me tell you it wasn't easy. There is over 600+ hours of work just inside the front and back cover of Gold in the Darness, and that doesn't include creating websites, getting everything together to publish, formatting the books, or cover art design. That is just writing, editing, and revision. Self-publishing was a wild ride, I had to be my own EVERYTHING I handled every last detail, other than beta reading during edits. I wouldn't have done it another way, however. I wanted that control, because when I got the e-mail that my book was live for pre-order, I felt so accomplished. I DID THAT! ME! It was just the way that I chose to go, will I go that way in future? Probably, although I pray to the publishing God's that It will be simpler now that I have the skills. I am self-taught, so I now can just sit back and see what the readers think, and hope and pray that they love it as much as I do.

Thank you for your support, and for reading if you chose to. Keep your ears open for new projects that are in the works currently!

Follow the light, my lovelies!
